Frequently Asked Questions
If your question is not here, please fill out a Request for Information, click here. Do you have a users manuals for my camcorder or cordless telephone? We don't have any users, operators or service manuals for cordless telephones or camcorders. You will need to contact your manufacturer or authorized service center for documentation. In some cases, the manufacturer will offer them online and others will require a fee. What do I do with my old battery? We have an entire page specifically on recycling information for your old battery. Click here to go there I don't see a listing for my cordless telephone model? Our site is presently up to date with the latest cross reference info from our manufacturer. If you have the battery handy, try our search by photo to help find what you need. If you can't find it through our photo search, we won't have a battery to fit your telephone. Click here to go to the battery search by photo page. Can you ship outside of the United States?Yes, but different rules apply. For shipments up to 5 pounds, we use USPS Global Priority mail. For shipments over 5 pounds, we like to use FedEx but the cost is usually high. If you have a preferred carrier, contact us to see if we can ship via your carrier. What are the shipping costs? We have a page specifically designed to discuss the shipping methods and costs. Click here to go there. Do I need to charge the telephone or camcorder battery after I receive it?Yes, most of the telephone and camcorder batteries we sell are partially discharged. You should always fully charge the battery prior to the first use. Additionally, it may take a few charge-discharge cycles to reach full capacity so don't be alarmed is the first few uses the battery quits earlier than expected. Why don't the camcorder batteries run as long as the run time rating? The run time rating is provided to us by the battery manufacturer. The real measure of battery life is the capacity. Since each camera uses different power consumption, the manufacturer measured the run time based on current draw with the average camera idling, no zooming, flip out displays, or even recording. Not a very good measure but consistent across the camcorder models. Also leads to high run times that you will never realize. Sounds kind of like automotive EPA mileage figures, higher than you will ever get but makes for good advertising. I like to use relative measurements where a 2300 mAh battery will run about twice as long as a 1150 mAh battery in the same camera. Your actual current draw depends more on the camera generation (newer cameras are more power efficient), how you use the camera, i.e. zoom, LCD display, etc., and what features it has than anything else. What is the capacity rating and why should I care?Capacity is the true measure of the energy storage in the battery. Think of capacity as a gas tank in your car. The bigger (more) the gas tank (Amp Hours or Ah) the longer it will run. For Sealed Lead Acid (SLA) batteries, the capacity is measured at a constant current over a 20 hour period. For example, a 10 Ah battery will source 0.5 Amps of current for a 20 hour time period through a constant load. The same 10 Ah battery can only source 6 amps for a one hour time period (equivalent to 6 Ah for a 1 hour load).
